Run the check-in kiosk at your center: family codes and signatures
Put a tablet at your front door so families sign their children in and out with their own 6-digit code and a signature. Staff sign in and out at the same kiosk. Every sign-in is saved with the time, the person and the signature.
Who this is for
Directors and front-desk staff who set up the kiosk. Families use it; see Sign your child in and out at the kiosk.
Before you start
- Check-In/Out must be on for your center. It comes on by itself when you create your first childcare room.
- Use a tablet or computer signed in to your staff account. You stay signed in while the kiosk runs.
Step 1 — Open the kiosk from your center
- Select Centers in the left rail, then your center. Give it a few seconds to load.
- Select the … (More) icon in the toolbar.
- Type "Kiosk" in Search features and select Check-In Kiosk.
The kiosk opens on Kiosk Check-In/Out with your center's name, the Parents and Staff buttons and a keypad.
Step 2 — A family signs a child in or out
- The parent taps Parents and enters their 6-digit code.
- The kiosk says "Welcome" with their name, then Select your child. Only that family's children are shown.
- The parent taps their child and signs under Sign Here with a finger or mouse. Clear starts the signature again.
- The parent taps Check-In or Check-Out with the child's name.
A wrong code turns the circles red and shows "Code not recognized. Please try again or ask a staff member."
At check-out, the kiosk only lets an authorized adult take the child. See Authorized pickups and custody restrictions at check-out.
Step 3 — Staff sign in and out
A staff member taps Staff, finds their name in the list or with search, signs under Sign Here, and taps Check-In or Check-Out. This is what feeds your ratios and the staff log.
Step 4 — Leave kiosk mode
Select Exit Kiosk Mode. A staff member must type the password of the account the kiosk is signed in with, then select Exit.
Watch out: the password stops someone from using your account, but not from closing the browser. For a tablet left by the door, also turn on Guided Access (iPad) or screen pinning (Android). See Lock a kiosk device.
FAQ
- Does the kiosk ask for a signature? Yes, at sign-in and sign-out. Your center can require it in Attendance Settings; see Set staff-to-child ratios (Washington preset) and require a signature at sign-in.
- A family forgot their code. A staff member can sign the child in from the room's Check-In/Out list instead.
- Where do I see today's sign-ins? In each room's Check-In/Out list, and in the check-in reports.
